In this article you will discover some very useful article writing tips about one of the most indispensible tools available to the writer. That would be a simple. When I say notebook, I mean the physical, paper kind, not the computer. If you are serious about article writing, or at least want to do a good job writing, then you should carry a notebook around with you wherever you go. Below are 4 reasons why…

1. An idea can strike you at anytime. It is best to not rely solely on your memory because unless you have a photographic memory, you are more than likely going to forget within minutes. Why not just carry a notebook and write down your idea or thought then you can check into it further at your leisure.

2. Writing your ideas down in real time will not only make it easier to write it down than to try remembering it and writing it down. Quite often it is not only what you see that makes you think of something interesting that you want to write about. There are sometimes smells, tastes or sounds that will jar an emotion or thought. In this case, it would be very difficult to recreate this to get that feeling or thought back.

3. You never know who you might run into. You just might turn a corner and run into your favorite TV personality. If they are the friendly type and don’t mind you quoting them in your article, then you would be able to write down what they say verbatim. Nothing is worse than misquoting someone.

4. The more information you have on a topic, the better to attract new and repeat visitors to your site. If you have a specific topic in mind, write that topic on the top of a page and set out with notebook in hand to gather information where you can. This will not only help you with the current article but it could also give you more ideas for future articles.

Now, having just the notebook won’t do the trick. Be sure to bring a pen or pencil everywhere you go as well.

If you are so inclined, another way to record your thoughts and ideas is by doing just that. Record them! Get yourself a small hand held mini recorder and as you are walking you will be able to record your thoughts and ideas. This is a favorite method of mine because it allows me to do the article on the run and then when I am near a computer, I just transcribe it to the computer. For me this is much easier and simpler.
