Does anyone have any advice how to start writing articles?
I’ve been looking into journalism for some time, and thought that the best way to test the water would be to just get out there, and write some articles.
However, I’m stuck for inspiration. I’m only looking to write very short pieces at first, requiring little research, so that I can focus on spending my energies on improving my writing style. As such, any suggestions for even very short articles would be appreciated.

Find an industry that you would like to be an expert in and write articles for industry websites/magazines. That’s the best way to get published. I have hundreds of published articles on marketing. It looks great when I apply for a job and they google me and there’s lots of information with my name on it!
Visit the site labnol.org. As far as I remember, he is a former jurnalist. His website may be a good inspiration to you. He makes around $xxxxx per month from his website alone.
However you have asked to start your career in writing field.
1) Choose the niche in which you can write spontaneously.
2) Get a free webpage in blogspot.com or some where else.
3) Write few short articles on your niche and publish them in your website (step 2).
4) Join few webmaster forums like Digital Point and SitePoint for free.
5) Advertise your writing service, give your sample articles (step 3), and get orders.
