Two Easy Article Writing Tips
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out concerning your online business, when it comes to driving low-cost traffic to your site, writing articles and distributing them is one of the most cost-effective ways to do this. Not only that but it helps with your SEO (Search Engine Optimization), search engine rankings, as well as giving you many chances for incoming links. By writing articles and submitting them to different article directories, and including a link to your website in your resource box, you give readers an opportunity to visit your site by clicking on the link.
If you’re not sure how to start to write an article, let me give you a few tips. The way I describe below is by far not the only way, I’m sure you can think of more if you give yourself some freedom to imagine.
Breakdown the List of Top 10 Ideas for Your Article
After finding a related topic for your niche, break down the top 10 list regarding this topic. This top 10 list could possibly be one of the following…
- 10 reasons to purchase your product or offer
- 10 advice tips
- 10 reasons not to do something
- 10 ways to do something
- Etc. etc. etc.
Depending on your niche and taking into consideration the top 10 list above, here are some examples…
- 10 ways to get your baby to sleep through the night.
- 10 reasons why it article writing is important.
- 10 ways exercise and diet can save your life
After you have your 10 reasons, go back and go into detail on each one. Don’t just make a list of 10 reasons to not explain why each of them is important. After you have your 10 reasons completed in detail, it’s now time to write an introductory paragraph that will lead your reader into the top 10 list. For instance, for the baby sleeping through the night article mentioned above, an introductory paragraph might have something about how sleep deprived you were getting until you figured out how to get your baby to sleep through the night.
Then it’s off to the other end of your article, by creating a summary of your article. Try to be explicit and to encourage them to try what you just educated them on.
That’s it! You just created your first article. Of course if you wanted, you could just create a top five list and go into more detail on each of the points.
Recording Your Thoughts
Some people find it a little more difficult, just writing down what they are thinking because they tend to write slower than what they are thinking. One way to get around this is by recording your thoughts, and then transcribing them or editing them into your article. Personally I find it much easier to think and talk about something I’m interested in than to type it out. Although I can type 60+ words per minute, the average person can speak in excess of 120 words per minute, so thoughts flow more naturally.
If you have an MP3 player that has a record option, or you simply have a tape recorder, try talking about a particular topic within your niche for five minutes. I can guarantee you that if you did this for a full five minutes. You have an article with close to 1000 words, if not more. Just imagine that you are telling it to your friend. Then listen to the recording, write down the points in the order that you recorded them, write an intro and closing and presto you have a new article.
With this one, I went one step further. I found a great program that actually transcribed as I’m talking. This program is called Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and I can just talk while I am thinking of things and it automatically transcribed onto a notepad or WordPad, even Microsoft Word. I’ve found that I’ve been able to create articles, just as fast without the extra work of transcribing afterwards.
I would highly recommend that you check out Dragon NaturallySpeaking and you can do so at www.nuance.com. At the present time there is no affiliate programs, so we don’t have to worry about this being an affiliate link.
